FAQs

A few of the most common questions asked by chocolate lovers.

What is the nutritional content of Pana Chocolate?

Pana Chocolate is raw, vegan, gluten free, soy free, and refined sugar free. A bar that nourishes from the inside out. You can find our nutritional panels on the product pages for each individual bar flavour.

Is Pana Chocolate suitable for diabetics?

We try to create chocolate that everybody can enjoy. Our bars are low GI and sweetened with raw, organic dark agave nectar or coconut nectar. This means when eaten in moderation they’re suitable for people with diabetes, however it is always best to check with your health practitioner. A 15g serving of Pana Chocolate contains around 3-4g of low GI sugar.

Does Pana Chocolate contain gluten?

No. All of our products are completely gluten free.

Are all Pana Chocolate products vegan friendly?

Yes. All our chocolate and desserts are free from all animal products and animal bi-products.

Does Pana Chocolate contain caffeine?

The cacao bean contains very small amounts of caffeine, but also contains theobromine (a similar alkaloid to caffeine). This ingredient is far less stimulating to the central nervous system than caffeine, therefore most people would not notice these small amounts. However, if you’re sensitive to caffeine it’s probably best to avoid cacao.

Does Pana Chocolate contain nuts?

Not all products contain nuts but Pana Chocolate is made in a facility that also handles nuts.

Is Pana Chocolate suitable for children and pregnant women?

Pana Chocolate is free from dairy, soy, gluten and contains only natural and 100% organic ingredients, so it is suitable for children and pregnant women. Whilst we like to think of ourselves as raw chocolate experts, if you or your child have specific dietary requirements or allergies, we recommend seeking qualified medical advice.

Does Pana Chocolate use fairly traded ingredients?

At Pana Chocolate we believe in sourcing all our raw materials straight from their countries of origin, supporting ethical and sustainable sources of income for local workers.

All of our major ingredients are branded fairtrade, except for our coconut oil, which is still produced under fair trade conditions from small plantation growers.

We work hard to ensure that everyone involved in production and supply is receiving higher than market price for their goods and services. Please refer to our Ingredients section for more information on the individual ingredients.

Where are your ingredients sourced?

All of our ingredients are certified organic and fairtrade, where possible.

We source our ingredients from their countries of origin:
- Cacao from Bolivia and the Dominican Republic
- Cold-pressed cacao butter from Peru
- Cold pressed coconut oil from the Philippines
- Raw dark agave nectar from Mexico
- Carob from Spain
- Cinnamon from Sri Lanka

Please refer to our Ingredients section for more information on the individual ingredients.

Is Pana Chocolate packaging made from recycled materials?

Pana Chocolate loves the earth, as much as it loves your insides. Our packaging is made from 100% recycled materials, our inks are 100% vegetable based and our seal is an edible plant gum.

What percentage cacao is Pana Chocolate?

Depending on the flavour the cacao percentage varies from 50% to 80%. Please refer to individual bar flavours for details.

Which sweeteners do you use?

Our products are free from refined sugar, instead we use natural sweeteners. Our preferred natural sweeteners are agave and coconut nectar as we find when combined with other natural ingredients create the most delicious taste and velvety texture.

How is Pana Chocolate best stored?

It’s good to remember that our chocolate is raw and free of preservatives. Because of that they have special care instructions.

Your chocolate needs to be stored in a cool, dark place below 18 degrees centigrade. Coconut oil has a very low melting point, so your chocolate will become soft if it gets hot.

The refrigerator is a safe place for your treats as the quality and texture will not be affected. But be sure to keep it away from any strong odours, as chocolate and cacao absorb odours. If you receive a chocolate package from us that is warm to touch, do not open it straight away. Transfer to a refrigerator for an hour or two before opening.

Are your chocolates and cakes Kosher?

We use kosher ingredients in all our products, and our chocolate bars are certified by Kosher Australia. Certification of Pana Chocolate specialty chocolates and cakes is not possible, as flavours change regularly, however all ingredients used are Kosher.

Is Pana Chocolate paleo?
